HERITAGE OF MEI HO HOUSE “HONG KONG INTERNATIONAL MUSEUM DAY 2018” PROGRAMME SERIES

The theme of International Museum Day (IMD) 2018 is “Hyperconnected Museums: New Approaches, New Publics”. With the constant advances in information technology, our communications and connections with one another become more complex and diverse every day. In order to enhance the public’s understanding of, and connection with, museums, they have to develop new approaches in interpreting their exhibits, and explore new opportunities through social media to enrich the audience’s viewing experience. These new approaches will allow audiences to interact with the exhibits and with each other. As museums strive to maintain their relevance in society, they also make an effort to organise cooperative projects focusing on the local community and different social groups to engage new audiences and strengthen connections with them.

This year, IMD in Hong Kong is scheduled on 12-13 May 2018. The Heritage of Mei Ho House has organised a series of programmes to let more Hong Kong people to understand the development of public housing and the stories of the Sham Shui Po community.
