Inspired by the theme "What a Beautiful Moonlit Night", the two-day event runs from afternoon to evening, featuring former residents' guided tours, interactive missions, hostel room visits, photo spots and more. The event also features a Family Fun Day, with a variety of activities designed for families and visitors of all ages. Slow down, enjoy quality time together, and create unforgettable Mid-Autumn memories with your loved ones.

Heritage of Mei Ho House “Hong Kong ICH Month 2026” Programme: Intangible Cultural Heritage in Sham Shui Po

Presented by the LCSD and organised by the ICHO, “Hong Kong ICH Month 2026” will be held from 30 May to 30 June. Under the theme “ICH Around Town,” the event features a series of diverse programmes designed to give the public and tourists a deeper understanding of ICH, thereby putting into practice the concept of “shaping tourism with cultural activities and promoting culture through tourism”. Key programmes include “The Hong Kong Jockey Club Series”, solely sponsored by The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust.
In support of the event "Hong Kong ICH Month 2026", the Heritage of Mei Ho House will organise a special programme titled "Intangible Cultural Heritage in Sham Shui Po" on 14 June. Through thematic talks, handicraft workshops, and community guided tours, the programme aims to strengthen community connections, enhance public awareness and understanding of ICH conservation, and showcase the unique value of intangible cultural heritage in contemporary society, with a view to passing on and safeguarding these precious traditional cultures together.

Heritage of Mei Ho House "International Museum Day 2026" Programmes: Museums Uniting a Divided World

On 18 May 2026, the International Council of Museums (ICOM) celebrates International Museum Day under the theme “Museums Uniting a Divided World”. The theme highlights the role of museums in fostering dialogue, embracing diverse perspectives, and supporting communities in navigating complex issues. Through preserving heritage and providing inclusive spaces for learning and reflection, museums contribute to social cohesion, sustainability, and cultural understanding.
The year also marks the 80th anniversary of ICOM, reaffirming its commitment to strengthening the global museum community and advancing the social role of museums.
Echoing this year’s theme, the Heritage of Mei Ho House will present public programmes that bring together diverse voices, reflect on community transformations, and explore shared cultural memories.

YHA Mei Ho House Youth Hostel Lunar New Year Celebration: Year of the Horse Leaderboard Challenge

As 2026 approaches, Lunar New Year is just around the corner! Heritage of Mei Ho House presents the “Year of the Horse Leaderboard Challenge,” inviting everyone to take on a series of festive game booths that test reflexes, speed, and hand–eye coordination. Participants’ results will be recorded and updated instantly on the leaderboard. The faster you complete the challenges, the higher your ranking and the greater your chance to win souvenirs.
A range of Lunar New Year experiences will also be available, including festive photo spots, DIY Fai Chun, fortune sticks, and hands-on workshops such as Maneki-neko aroma stones and tin foil relief art. Bring your family and friends to Mei Ho House and celebrate the New Year with fun and festive cheer!

On 25 October, Mei Ho House transforms into a spooky playground for a special Halloween event—“Scary Night at Mei Ho House!”
Become an “Eyeball Spider Hunter” and collect mysterious eyeballs to win fun prizes. Get creative at the Pumpkin Pouch DIY Workshop, or snap unforgettable photos at the giant pumpkin photo spot. The highlight of the night is the first-ever “Night Adventure at Heritage of Mei Ho House,” where you’ll navigate the dark, complete missions, and test your courage!

On 5 October, YHA Mei Ho House Youth Hostel will host a Mid-Autumn Festival celebration Under the Moonlight with Chang’e. Guests can take photos with festive decorations, enjoy a variety of workshops, game booths, marshmallows, refreshing drinks, and more. Bring your family along to experience a joyful, warm, and memorable evening with Chang’e.

Every year, on 18 May, the International Council of Museums (ICOM) organises International Museum Day (IMD), a global event highlighting the transformative role of museums in society. In 2025, IMD will explore “The Future of Museums in Rapidly Changing Communities”, focusing on how museums can navigate and contribute to a world undergoing profound social, technological, and environmental shifts.
In response, the Heritage of Mei Ho House will engage the public through exhibitions, guided tours, and various activities, reflecting on community changes and exploring how revitalised heritage buildings bridge the past and future while preserving community memory and cultural imagination.
