Moonlight brings people together, evoking memories, reunion and shared moments. After nearly two years, YHA Mei Ho House Youth Hostel is delighted to welcome you back for our Open Day this Mid-Autumn Festival weekend. Join us at this historic building, where generations of stories come together, and celebrate under the moonlight.
Inspired by the theme “What a Beautiful Moonlit Night”, the two-day event runs from afternoon to evening, featuring former residents’ guided tours, interactive missions, hostel room viewings, photo spots and more. Discover the stories of Mei Ho House and experience the unique charm of this historic landmark.
The event also features a Family Fun Day, with a variety of activities designed for families and visitors of all ages. Slow down, enjoy quality time together, and create unforgettable Mid-Autumn memories with your loved ones.

(Remarks: Open to the public. Participants must be members of the Mei Ho House Alumni Network. Free membership registration will be available on-site during the event.)
Mid-Autumn Photo Spots
Celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival with themed photo spots featuring a giant moon installation and festive decorations. Capture memorable moments by day or under the evening moon.

Memory Explorer
Our memories are made up of different fragments. A place, an object or a moment from everyday life can all become a treasured memory. Heritage of Mei Ho House preserves many of the collective memories of Hong Kong’s public housing history.
Become a Memory Explorer and search the museum for hidden “Memory Cards” to collect the “Golden Memory Orbs” left by former residents. Complete the mission and follow the Heritage of Mei Ho House Instagram page to redeem a special souvenir.

Guided Tour with Former Residents
Discover the stories behind Hong Kong’s first generation of public housing through the eyes of former residents. Hear first-hand accounts of daily life, neighbourhood memories and childhood experiences while learning about the development of public housing and the strong sense of community that once flourished at Mei Ho House.
Time: 3:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. & 5:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Venue: Heritage of Mei Ho House
Capacity: 15 participants (first come, first served)
Fee: Free of charge
Registration: No advance booking required. Please register outside the museum entrance 15 minutes before the tour begins.
Moon Hunt Adventure
There is more to Mid-Autumn Festival than admiring the full moon! Set off on a moon-hunting adventure and follow the clues on your activity card as you explore Heritage of Mei Ho House, the youth hostel and the surrounding grounds in search of hidden moon-phase symbols. Complete the challenge by collecting all the moon phases on your activity card.

Lucky Draw – Win a Stay at Mei Ho House

Hostel Room Open House
Take a rare behind-the-scenes look inside the guest rooms at YHA Mei Ho House Youth Hostel. Explore how the former resettlement block has been thoughtfully revitalised into a modern heritage hostel, blending historic character with contemporary design.

Fun for All — Family Fun Day 2026
This year, the event will also feature a special Family Fun Day, offering a variety of workshops and booth games for families and participants of different generations.
From hands-on activities and fun challenges to teamwork games, both adults and children can join in, think, create and work together. Enjoy fun-filled activities while connecting across generations and spending a relaxing and enjoyable weekend together.

- This event is exclusively for members of the Mei Ho House Alumni Network. Membership is free and can be registered online or on-site.
- All activities will be conducted in Cantonese.
- Due to the expected high visitor turnout, pets are not permitted at the event venue (except guide dogs). We appreciate your understanding.
- In the event of adverse weather or unforeseen circumstances, YHA Mei Ho House Youth Hostel reserves the right to amend the programme, schedule, venue, or cancel the event without prior notice.
- To coincide with the Open Day, the Heritage of Mei Ho House will extend its opening hours until 8:00 pm. We warmly invite you to visit with your family and friends.
