MEI HO HOUSE ALUMNI NETWORK ACTIVITY:
“HANDMADE TOY WORKSHOP”

Mei Ho House was born in 1954, a decade of material deprivation. In the difficult old days, though parents would rarely buy toys for their children, it turned out to boost the children creativity and inspire them to make their own toys. Today, to let our kids get a taste of the DIY fun, a Handmade Toy Workshop has been organized on 19 March 2016 (Saturday) for Mei Ho House Alumni Network members to travel parents and children through time and together enjoy an art craft weekend.

Guided by an experienced instructor Bing Bing, both the adults and the kids enjoyed their discussion on all sorts of childhood toys and games.

After the sharing time, Bing Bing talked about methods and techniques of using various materials. All participants then set their imagination free to make use of the reusable materials to design and create their own toys. We were so amazed by their infinite creativity; some families made bride dolls with wedding dress and moveable toy snakes using toilet paper rolls; another little boy used aluminum cans to create rockets while some others designed a mini foosball game using a Coca-Cola carton! How impressive!

We are delighted to see everyone enjoying themselves during the workshop. Once again, thank you for joining us and we are looking forward to seeing more families in our upcoming cultural events!
