MEI HO HOUSE ALUMNI NETWORK ACTIVITY:
“WOODEN BOX OF MEMORIES- UPCYCLING ART WORKSHOP”
Have you ever thought of other ways to handle garbage apart from disposing of them? Besides leaving the old stuff aside at home, is there any alternative to handle the things which are useless but full of memories? In fact, we can give these waste materials and unwanted products a second life through creative way!
Following the community guided tour and workshop in October, Mei Ho House Alumni Network held another activity named “Wooden Box of Memories- Upcycling Art Workshop” which was themed on Sham Shui Po. In the workshop, children and their families could use the disposed materials in daily lives and converted them into new materials based on the concept of “upcycling”. In the process of upcycling transformation, children learnt about the importance of conservation of the Earth’s resources. Led by the experienced instructors Bing Bing and Agnes, participants could also know more about Sham Shui Po and use the wooden box to share their warm memories about this community through art creation.
Instructors adopted a lively approach in introducing various aspects of Sham Shui Po.
In the sharing session, parents and kids discussed and decided the theme of artworks. Then they designed and created the works together happily.
All of the participants enjoyed sharing their thoughts to the others.
With the streets of toy, tasty food, fabric, computer…In the eyes of children, Sham Shui Po is such colorful and special!
After finishing artworks, little “artists” would have a valuable chance to share their learning outcomes and get a real taste of participating an exhibition, introducing their unique views of Sham Shui Po to the public. Details of the exhibition will be announced soon. Stay tuned!
