| Hostel Notice for Check-in and Check-out
Check-in and Check-out Procedures
- Upon arrival at the hostel, please provide the valid membership card and booking confirmation slip to the Hostel Manager.
- If member cannot show his/ her membership card, confirmation slip or receipt when checking-in, he/ she should fill in the .declaration form. If individual hosteller should have his/ her own membership card or accompany by member, he/ she should apply for the membership at the hostel's reception.
- In order to maintain the overnight charges at low level and to encourage independent spirit, hostellers are expected to wash their own dishes, empty the rubbish bin and tidy up the room before check-out. Please help to create a nice environment for the hostels.
Hostel Period
- In order to entertain the maximum number of hostellers, the limit of hostel period is 6 nights basically, extension can be considered depending on availability. Hostel Managers reserve the right to limit hostel period to protect other member’s right.
- Some of the hostels may be closed on certain days for operational needs; please call the YHA office or the hostels directly to confirm opening days.
Day Camp
- All hostellers must leave the hostel during closing hours, regardless of number of days booked. If hostellers need to stay within hostel premises during non-opening hours, they must obtain permission from the Hostel Manager first and subject to day-camp fee o HK $20.00 per person.
Blankets
- Local hostels provide blankets, but remember to bring your sleeping bag or warm cloths under low temperature.
- If you have brought your own down blankets or sleeping bag, please use blankets provided by hostels for separation/isolation purpose. Please keep everything clean and hygienic.
- The following is the standard blanket measurement recommended by the IYHF:

Campers
- Camping fee includes camping site at the hostel, toilet and bathroom facilities, excluding cooking facilities in the kitchen. Campers have to bring their own tents and cooking utensils. Sheets, blankets or other facilities from the hostel should not be taken into the tents. Check-in procedures are the same for both campers and hostellers who stay in the dormitory.
Meals
- Meals are not provided in hostels, members should prepare their own food. Only snacks and beverages can be bought from Hostel Managers at some of the hostels.
- Shared kitchens are available in all hostels and barbeque sites are available in most hostels. Cooking utensils and cutleries are provided, but hostellers are required to clean up after use and return them before check-out. All rubbish and food residue should be disposed into rubbish bins.
- Most of the shared kitchens are closed at 10:30pm and 30 minutes before check-out time.
Personal property and Insurance
- Hostellers should purchase insurance if necessary. The association and its staff are not responsible for any property lost.
- Small lockers are available in all hostels. Please bring your own locks.
- Hostel Managers bear no responsibility in keeping properties for hostellers. Even if he/she helps to keep your property under your request, the association and the Hostel Managers are not responsible in case of property lost.
- If you found your property missing, please inform the Hostel Manager immediately. Or if you found any property lost or left in the hostels after check-out, please call the corresponding Hostel Manager directly to check whether the lost property is found or not.
Regulations
- Hostellers should respect the YHA spirit of hostelling. They should observe the rules stated on the “Members’ Handbook” and the instructions by the hostel staff. Hostellers should also be considerate while enjoying the fun of hostelling and letting other hostellers to enjoy the same benefits.
- Hostels are non-smoking premises. Illegal drugs are not allowed in the hostels. Small amount of beers and wine are acceptable in the hostels, but Hostel Managers have the right to intervene when it causes disturbance to other hostellers or affects the operation of the hostel. Hostel Managers also reserve the right to reject the admission of anyone under the influence of drugs or alcohol or order them to leave the hostels.
- Hostellers in dormitories should stay under same sex group except family room occupancy.
- Hostels will be closed during the resting time at night after 11 pm. Quiet hours from 11pm to 7am are expected out of consideration for hostellers who wish to sleep. If you wish to return to the hostel after 11pm, please inform the Hostel Manager before you leave, or you may not be able to obtain admission.
- Members and their non-member groupmates should observe the rules stated on the “Members’ Handbook”, otherwise the Association reserves the right to remove them from the member list or to suspend their memberships. There will be no refund for the membership fee or overnight charges under such circumstances. Members should be responsible for the behaviours of their non-member groupmates
- Members should be responsible for damage of any hostel facilities whether the damage is done on purpose or by accident.
- Hostellers should not damage the plants or trees inside the hostel premises. Do not make a fire outside barbeque site.
- Pay special attention when cooking and remember to extinguish all fires after barbeque to prevent fire accident.
- Keep hostel clean. Dispose rubbish properly.
- Unless with written permission from the Association, political or religious gatherings are not allowed in the hostels.
- Amendments to the hostel regulations may be made without further notice.
